425 Fe?

So i'm reading my march '04 classic truck mag. and i get to the end and theres a '66 Custom cab...i'm like "right on" and then i get to the part where it says "bored and stroked 425 FE". is there such a thing?

The first thing to consider is that it may be a typo.

The 427 is actually a 425. But anybody with a 427 would call it a 427.

There is a common stroker option using the 427 block. Bore it to 4.25 and put in a 428 crank, you get 452. Possible typo.

Who knows. Maybe he made his own combo.

i thought typo at first but then i remebered that i just heard about the 410 etc....

you could probably get close with a 390, small clean up on the cylinders and a 4.125" crank.

Yup, 4.05" bore with 4.125" stroke = 425...

a 390 with a 428 crank and a .070 overbore also gets you 425ci, but i dought theres to many people that take a 390 to .070 overbore, im guessing either a typo or the combo greg suggested.

it also could have been bored to 400 SBC 4.125 bore then used with a 428 crank. who knows, maybe it was 452 FE which would have been the 427 bored to 4.25 with a 428 crank which is a fairly common configuration, and a stocked piston most of the time.
