any ideas?

I have 1977 Ford F 150 with a 351M. I brought it up from arizona to washington. It ran fine untill winter hit. It starts fine but then it begins to spudder and run rough to the point it kills unless I have my foot on the gas. It runs horrible for a few miles I have to keep a little gas on at all times. black smoke comes out when I rev it up. It almost kills when I floor it. I can smell all kinds of gas. I checked the choke pull down. replaced plugs, cap, points, fuel filter. What do I do? Does the carburetor need to be adjusted?

ya...sounds like it is running rich. Looks like adjusting the float level might be in order.

Good luck!

You need to hook the hot air intake up that draws in warmed air off of the exhaust manifold on the factory air cleaner. Without it, your carb will ice up in the air bleeds and flood until the engine bay warms up.
