When accelerating from both first and second gears, I feel/hear a vibration coming through the stick shift. This vibration has a sequence( da, da, da, da) that's tied to the acceleration of the truck-meaning that as i go faster, it also increases. i don't feel it so much from third gear on up. I also hear that "clunk" sound when I'm shifting into first...Thoughts?
synchros or the shifter collar in the tranny may be loose. in any event its time to either look inside yourself or go to a reputable tranny shop or the dealer with it before it dies. thats what it was on my old dodge d 1000 years back
Oh man-that's some money you're talking about. Thanks for the reply Ranger Bob. The syncros are beyong my capabilities as a fledgeling mechanic, but what's involved with tightening the shift collar?
Dont know about the vibration, but the "clunk" is probably the drive shaft slip joint. mine does it too, and from what i have read on here, it is just one of those things rangers do. You can take it apart and put grease in it, but i dont think it is that serious of a problem.
