I have a '96 limited. No problems (major) until just recently.
The heater core had to be replaced in December. After it was finished, the temperature guage now cycles from cold to about a quarter of the way over on the guage . It takes about 15 seconds, Then it starts to decrease for about 7 secs to cold. This continues whether at high speeds or driving around town or at idle.
I had the thermostat replaced thinking that might be the problem.
NOPE! not that easy. It is still cycling. We also flushed the radiator (maybe air in the system) No luck there either.
Don't know what the problem is.....how about anybody out there. Can ya help this ol' georgia boy?
Haapens occasionally im my 95 4.0L ranger - replace the temperature sending unit (next to the thermostat on my truck), the one with a single wire, not a connector (temp sensor for the computer). You can test the sending unit using a multimeter, I dont remember the values for good versus bad.
