Anybody heard about this.--Jack
I saw pictures and a read short write up on it, they haven't decided which current Ford to base it on. Could end up a unibody SUV.... Ugly too. Gonna be another little yuppie mobile, nothing like it's namesake.
Ever notice how all the newer suv's going down the highway are starting to look more and more like the original Bronco? About the same size with plastic junk tacked on.
Wonder who is going to build the small turbo diesel power train? Anybody have a link to any pictures?
I like small SUVs, like the original Bronco, Scout and the little Bronco II, body on frame construction and proven powertrains. Manual hubs and transmissions with LOW SIDE transfer cases. Great big Lincolns with 4 wheel drive and nice quiet street tires are not impressive at all. Little unibodies don't do any thing for me either.
What I would really like to see as the new bronco is what you see pretty much in some of the modified photos. A 2 door Excursion with a removable top. Engine would not matter as long as I can get a 6 speed behind it with a manual transfer case. If they made this I would be the first in line to get one. If was to be a small one I think it being based on the two door Explorer Sport (Which for some reason is now defunct) would be cool. But it would have to have the FX4 level 2 package like the Ranger and the top would have to come off. Toss an Atlas II transfer case in it with a couple of electric lockers and your all set. And at least have a solid front axle as an option perhaps.
It looks like a another piece of plastic junk.
Its gonna be front wheel drive with the rear wheels being engaged only as needed. I doubt many of them will ever see a dirt road much like the other new trendy suv's.

Scouts are getting harder to find. That little slant 4 was half of a commercial IH V8 and was super strong.
