'90 F250 axle ratio code?
Ok I have been curious what gears I have in my truck. The code on the sticker on the door jamb is code 39. Would that be 3.90 gears? It's got a ZF 5spd. and 1st gear is granny (take off in at idle), 2nd you can take off in if empty and not going up incline (requires some throttle), shifts alittle hard between 1st and 2nd, and 5th is overdrive- about 2,000 rpm at 60mph. I would guess it's close to 3.55 or 3.73 gears but I don't have a clue. I really don't know why we have to have all the codes instead of just saying "3.90 gears" or whatever they are. why all the mind games? 
so anyone know what "39" is?

Wait wait, i just found it in the articles. Great. I got 3.55 gears... jee wiz. don't know why that was so hard.... anyway. it's fine for what i do i guess and with this engine. I just tow a 6x12 single axle trailer with couple mowers on it during the day then take it out cruising at night. i get anywhere from 10 to 13.5 mpg depending what i'm doing and how i'm driving it. i guess it's a good ratio for me i just always thought they were lower like 3.73.
