Installed A diablo chip in my 2000 F250 5.4, Ive run 3 tanks of premium and was still pinging like crazy.I sent it back to get reprogrammed because they thougt it was to far advanced, but even with the chip out Im still getting the pinging! Took it to the dealer and they said nothing is wrong.Any suggestions?
Did you buy your gas at the same place? Its possible that they have bad gas. Your dealer is full of ^*%$(*% if they say that the ping is normal... pinging means predetonation of fuel and is NOT normal...
I have the same basic truck as you and I put a Diablo chip in but never had a pinging problem... I will tell you however that I only used Amoco gas as there octane is listed at 92 while the other "cut rate" stations are listed at 91.
I have had some problems with the chip but never pinging... I'd check the quality of the gas...
