coolant guage

My coolant gage in my '87 bronco does not work. Can this be the guage or the sender? Is there a good way to tell which it is? Thanks.

I bet its the sender. If you pull the connect of you will get cold and if you ground it you get hot, or is it the other way around, either way you'll find out if the gauge works.

Yeah, if you remove the connector from the sensor & shove a nail in it & then ground it beside the sensor the gauge should go to full hot.
