bad fuel pump?
i haven't driven my truck a lot lately, but i have noticed that the oil always seems to smell like a little gas is in it. i changed the oil and a little while later (couple hundred miles) there is the gassy smell again. the motor only has about 1500 miles on it, but the fuel pump was not replaced at the time of rebuild. could a bad fuel pump cause gas to get in my oil? are there any other ways that this could happen besides really bad blowby?

Two ways for gas to get into your oil, I think. One- bad fuel pump diaphragm leaking into oil. Two- carb running EXTREMELY rich(won't hardly run when it's that rich).
I'd replace your fuel pump.

thanks for the quick replies. the motor runs great. i had to mess with the carb after the rebuild (engine and carb) for a while to get it to run this well, so i don't think it's running too rich. i suppose i'll go for a new fuel pump and go from there.
