Block color?

What year did Ford change from Blue to Grey on the engine blocks? I think I remember that '82 was the last year of the blue blocks.

light blue, corporate blue, black, gray. I've even seen comberland green sold from eastwood for 30's 40's engines. bet that was nasty looking.
I guess it depends on what engine and year.

My '80 1.6 was black. The '88 2.9 was light gray.

82 is pretty close, and it seems that it changed the same year ford stop calling the 302 a 302 and renamed it the 5.0 that we know today. speaking of the green it was used on the flat head v8's and was pretty cool looking especially with an aluminum intake and edelbrock aluminum heads. way cool dude..
