The hoods you're talking about end up being nothing more than cold-air inductions systems. Not bad- just not "ram air". I like the cowl induction hood for the SD. Rather than feeding the intake, it sucks heat out of the engine compartment.
PS- don't forget about filtration & the MAF when designing your REAL ram air system.

I don't think that is the case. the air pressure at the base of the windshield is higher than anywhere else. Race cars have their air cleaner assy set up to take air from this area. Its actually right below the windshield and goes through the cowl to the carb, hence the term cowl induction! Induce is to persude or influence (force).
What you are refering is eduction, educe is to draw or bring out (suck)! Yes I used the dictionary . But only for clarification so I didn't look like a total boob

It's not really a cowl-induction hood- they actually call it a heat-extractor. Here's a pic from [link:www.buffalohoods.com/ford.html|Buffalo Hoods]:

I had the plan, ram air. One little problem, a throttle body at a 45 degree angle. It was suggested to me to use a throttle body elbow off an F150 because thiers is straight. But I don't think it will just bolt on to the intake. The bolt pattern is probably different. The other problem is finding and/or making the right hood. My friend has an SVO hood on his 99 Cobra. It has a hole for intake and a 3" cowl. But all it does is help keep the engine cool. That kind of hood would be perfect if I could figure out how to point the T/B towards the front. There is a G.T. 500 hood that has scoops on the front but doesn't look quite right (IMO). If I can find the pic, I will add it.
Another idea might be making a shaker hood. But, again, all these modern "doodads" make it difficult to modify. Atleast to the extent that I want.
The functional ram-air hoods that are out for the F150 just direct outside air to the stock airbox. The air has to go through so many bends that it gets redundant.
If you have any ideas as to how to make this work please post them. I'm not going to give up on this idea. It's just going to be on the backburner for now. Good luck.
