I plan on getting a set of pre 1977 f250 front leaf springs to put under my 79 f250 and then do the rear shackle flip to gain about 2-3" of lift to clear a set of larger tires. I was wondering if I would run into any steering problems when I put the front springs on? Would I need a drop pitman arm? Draglink? Any other suggestions? I have a 3" body lift now and 35's? I want to fit 38's maybe. What do you all think?
You may create alot more problems than you bargained for if you start altering your suspension and Don't fully understand all the ramification(s) of the changes that you want to make!!!!!s.kuteman
I dont understand what you mean skute? I hear a lot of people do the shackle flip, and I have heard that the highboy springs work fine. What problems would I be running into?
Screamin T/A you might here flippin the shackles on a JEEP but I have never heard of flipping the shackles on an F-series from our vintage. I just went out and looked at my truck and I think it would be next to impossible to do without removing and making new spring perch hangars.best bet is to wait and save your dough for the correct lift
Highboy springs will fit a 79 and a shackle flip will work great. Thease guys (http://www.sky-manufacturing.com/) make rear brackets to make a shackle flip easy or you can use the front bracket off a 73-79 two or forwheel drive lief spring an install it in the back. Its not that hard. You might have to use a spacer to get your steering arm back to the right place.
