1956 ps pump question

i have a 56 f-100
i am going to convert it with the toyota set up.
i have two questions:

1- will any power steering pump work or does it have to be a toyota pump? Are there different pressure issues with different pumps?
2- Did anyone hook up their horn after this mod. the wire up through th e center can no longer be used. is there a way to hook up the horn?
anyone with info will help lots. thanks
i am in the processs of building this truck and i am also putting front discs on it and a 347 stroker and auto trans. and a 9" rear.
i searched the past threads but didn't see anything on these two questions, or maybe i missed it.

Whatever power steering pump you have should be fine, I used one from a 71 Mustang, which fit the brackets I had for my engine (302). as far as the pressure issues I haven't had any. I have a button on my dash for a horn it will depend on how you plan on hooking up your steering column, ie after market, donor from the salvage yard or the original shaft. I used the original shaft and the joints from a Toyota 4X4. I also have front disc brakes which is a lot cheaper if you purchase the brackets and go to a salvage yard for the rotors, calipers, new brake lines, and shoes. The shipping alone will be quite a bit. The rear end shouldn't be a problem it just depends if you want to keep the same bolt pattern or change to 4.5" or something. There are threads that mention what year trucks will be a direct bolt in to keep the 5.5 bolt pattern.

thanks for the info jaye
i already have the rear in, it was from a 72 f-150
i'm keeping the 5.5 bolt pattern up front with the discs.i ordered the 5.5 kit from mid fifty
i am going to use the stock column so i guess a button somewhere in th truck will have to do.
i was thinking i was going to have to do something like that, but i wanted to see if anyone had a tricks to make it work in the center of the wheel like original.
i dont have a ps pump yet but i'm going to get one from a ford. i would rather keep as many of the parts ford as possible.
