I'm trying to swap a dual-carbed 460 for the stock inline-6 that's in my 86 F-250. Any tips, tricks, or trouble hints would be greatly appreciated. I have 3 big blocks and no where to put so i figured i would stuff one in the truck and then use the 300 I-6 for an airboat project.
Try L and L Performance. They offer complete conversion kits. Not the least expensive, but they are complete. I have found them to be very high quality and to work.
Good luck.

I think the mounts that the motor mounts bolt to are the same but the trans from the 6 will not match up to the 460. You need to double check that to be sure any way just some things to look at

Nope. I forgot about that till you mentioned it. He will have to grind the rivets off the frame perches and get some v8 frame perches. And I believe the 460's had some different type of mounts with the rubber mounts too. The junkyard would have them.
I used the tranny mount from my I6 to mount a 76 460 with c6 in my 1980 F-100. but I built motor mounts out of both the factory I6 and 460 mounts to where they needed to be. But if you can find a truck with 460 it should have the motor mounts you need. I had looked at L& L but it was just too expensive.
Originally posted by serving_time Are the mounting perches 460 specific or would they work from a 351M or a 400? I am asking because I am considering putting a 460 into an F150.
No, the 351M 400 perches will not work if you use the factory 460 engine mounts.
What year of truck might you be working on?
