6.0 gone bad

Hello everyone, This is my maiden post. Bought F-350 in August, truck was great. Then came time for first oil change. Went to dealer, they suggested flash. That was start of problems. Fuel milage dropped from 18 to 11 miles to gallon. Engine noise almost doubled. Strong diesel fume smell in cab. Noticeable loss of power. List goes on but I will quit. Flash fixed one problem, stopped disel fuel from getting into motor oil by disabling pilot injectors. Took truck back in for second oil change and to address some of the concerns I had been having on Dec. 9th. Keep truck for 3 days, said they could not duplicate customers concerns on every issue but one, was told to bring truck back when transmisson tech would be back. Sorry to say truck did not run long enough to make it back. On Dec.19th motor shut off and has not run again. I will be ordering new truck tomarrow Jan.20th as Ford has started buy back process. Got to love those Ford's to go through this. Good luck to all other owners with problems.

They flashed your truck to fix the fuel in the oil problem? I’m new here too but that sounds like bad injectors to me (from what I‘ve read here). It sounds like you got the best corrective action anyway!

Yes tech and service manager said flash disabled pilot injectors(by the way this is what makes engine louder after flash) and stopped diesel fuel from getting into oil.

Well I guess I should try and brace myself... your story is pretty much a carbon copy of mine. The only difference is mine hasn't died yet. How long from flash till it died? Mine seems to run worse and worse. It is an absolute embarassment trying to get out of the parking lot at work... cranks right up but skips & misses like it's running on 4 cyls, then when you put it in gear & try to tip in, it hops and jumps till you can get it moving and give it some fuel. I've now started holding the brake a little with my left foot so I can give it enough throttle to put it under a load before letting the brake go so to avoid the terrible starts. After it runs it is fine except for the crappy mileage. Anyway I was just wondering cause your post hit close to home.

Flashes to reduce fuel in oil sounds like bs to me but I don't think there is a correlation between flashes and the engine shutting down. But a known problem is wire chafing that will cause all sorts of problems. Search this forum for chafing.

sound like you need to find a new dealer.reflash will not fix the leaking injectors..I think it is just a band aid

Sorry Luke can't give you the dealership, service manger said he would just deny what he told me. They got my truck running after 33 days on the 20th . They asked me to drive it until new truck came in. Problem was no oil pressure. Sent new pressure switch but it did not have any thread on it or no hole in bottom. Checked all inventory and found all to be the same. When they got correct part, still no oil pressure. Then had to replace plate that switch screwed into. They also said some 6.0 were having problems with movement of crank shaft. This caused shavings which blocked hole in oil pressure switch, which would result in need for engine replacement.

Yes....that is the point....it is so easy for people to simply deny what they said. However, it is for that very reason one should not feel comfortable about identying dealerships who are perceived less than creditable in their dealings with you. Their having your truck for 33 days is an example of why one should not fear being fearless in naming where it sat there for so long. This is an example of a business attempting to instill fear into the minds of a customer.

I'll phrase the question differently: ( I'm not pressuring you, and if you do feel that from me, I'll definitely withdraw ) Where did your truck sit for 33 days. ?
As a side note: It is for the above service manager's stating that "he would simply deny" reason, in dealing with any issue, it just supports the argument "to get it in writing". Of course, I'm referring to contractual issues.

Just a Thought.......My Perceptions......
