I have a 94 Ford Ranger it is 5 speed manual. This is the first time I have been on here and am not sure how this works ,but this is my problem. About 1 1/2 yrs ago my husband replaced the whole clutch assembly well ever since then there has been a whine while in gear.Well the other day I was on my way to work and I had the cruise on and all of the sudden there was a decrease in power.(like cruise had been released)I pressed on the gas and it sped back up a little, then the engine reved up because of the cruise control being on , I hit the brakes to release the cruise and then no matter what gear I put it in it would not catch . I rolled to a stop.I can put it in any gear w/out the clutch and when I release the clutch nothing happens. Can anyone help me ...
thanks

Hi and welcome to FTE! The whine sounds like it is coming from the throwout bearing. Was it replaced? Are you saying that the truck won't move like you are in neutral?
Hi and Thanks for the response.
Yes the throwout bearing was replaced also.Could it go out that quick? What might cause this?
Yes , to the question about it is like being in neutral. If the throwout bearing is the problem ,what all would you suggest needs to be replaced at the same time.

Sounds like the pressure plate or the clutch disc failed. If the throwout bearing is the problem I doubt you could put it any gear with the clutch out. Does the clutch pedal "feel" like it is workig? Can you hear any noise from around the clutch when you push the pedal?
Either the clutch has failed, or the throwout bearing is not releasing the pressure plate. I'm not sure how the linkage or hydraulics work on the 94, but see if you can get someone to look at the system at the transmission while you push the clutch in and out. It is possible that the throwout bearing is hung up and not releasing, but my guess is the pressure plate. Sometime's a well placed smack or two with a rubber mallet will work wonders. Since it happened while the clutch was out and you were driving, it almost has to be the pressure plate or the disc. Good luck.
