I just bought an A pillar, by autometer, with two holes. I bought an Autometer trans temp and an Autometer oil pressure gauge to put in it.
I just painted it to match the interior of my truck.
My question is... can I use the existing oil pressure sensor and just plug it in or will I have to use the sensor they sent with it. If I can use the existing sensor... where is it?
Also, on the trans temp guage, can I just tap into the cooling lines and run the sensor off that?
Slammer...Chk out Autometer's website. If I recall correctly they have installation instructions on Acrobat Reader for all of their gauges. Good luck. If not I'm sure someone can help out with this. I think Abendx put pillar meters in his rig.
If you look under your truck on the left forward side of the transmission, just above the shift linkage. There is a 1/8" pipe plug. unscrew that and put your sensor in there. I have a digital temp gauge in mine and it works great. If you are fast enough you will not lose over 3 or 4 drops.
Just to close this out... I did exactly what you said austinopa and I might have lost 3 drops of fluid. I ran the wire right up the transmission wire harness and it works great.
