2000 F150 XLT big V8. I need some advice. Last week (while going up a steep bridge) my engine suddenly died. While pulling over during the coasting I tried to start the engine again. Nothing. Ten seconds later, after I had come to a stop, I started the engine again and it started right up. No problem. I noticed the engine hesitating as I climbed up the bridge after that.
I took it to a local shop (not dealership). They changed the fuel filter, said it looked dirty and I was on my way. A few days later (while on a level causeway), the engine died again in the same manner. Now each time the engine died, the power did not. Also, after restart, the check engine light did not remain lit. When the engine died the two time or started acting up, it looks like (on the tach) that power rapidly loses power
A couple things that come to mind are the Crankshaft Position sensor and possibly an EEC relay or fuel pump relay.
It would probably be best to take it to your dealer and have them start by scanning for codes so you have something to go on.

Codes can be stored even if the light is off. There can be memory codes or pending codes.
The EEC relay is the power relay for the trucks PCM (Powertrain Control Module) (computer). It basically supplies battery voltage to the PCM.
