I just installed a tachometer and have had some issues with it. The tachometer is a Sunpro and it runs very erratic. I tried both side of the coil and using the other side labeled “battery” and I get no reading. The side that seems to work is labeled distributor. I wonder if the coil is just week. It seems like it doesn’t have much spark at the lower RPM’s since it now hesitates with the tach hooked up. If I remove the tach from the coil the motor runs fine. I’ve also had similar issues when I hook up a timing light to the coil the motor wants to die. My best guess is that the coil is just very week. Does this sound right?
Any help with would be great!
UPDATE-
I checked all the connections last night and found thAt it was my ground. The ground wire wasn't making a good connection, so it made the RPM's jump all over the place. No problems now, works great! It so nice to see what the motor is doing.
