The sled is a chain / drag dig type-the ferther you drag it the more wieght goes up on the front blade that DRIVES into to grounD!
I hope We will be ready for De Leon Tx pull this year

If I were you I would put in 4.10 or 4.33 gears inplace of the the 2.73's (truck will fall flat on its face with that high of ratio). I would also want a motor that had atleast 450 hp. I would run 33X12.50 or wider M/T's. If you "drop" the clutch at 5,000 rpm you will just smoke it. Start out a lower rpm (around 3,000) and get the sled moving, then once you have the clutch completely released then nail the gas and have fun!
Hope this helps a little.
Posi, 4 speed LWB Kelly Sefari LT235 85R16 E's on back 3.73 gears and the good ol'rebuilt 300
I think it pull the the sucker better than the 305-350 Chevy's-that's all I think that will be thier!
I know 1 of my compedetors I will be a light duty 2500 single spin high geared 5 speed that has a ragged out 350 in it! He will give it hell though!
Later

Weight - aim for the front of the truck as much as possible, you'll have all the weight in the rear you can handle, so put some up front to equalize, and give the front half of the 4wd system a fighting chance at traction..
Roll off the line slower than you'd like, so you don't fry a clutch, and get her in 2nd ASAP, then give her all the gas you want.
use low range if ya can, the worst that happens is you have to shift to 3rd before the end of the track.
Also, if legal (check your rules), helper springs and other suspension mods in the rear never hurt.
Last year, we managed to pull 2nd place with a brand new Dodge 1500 (hemi, auto, blah blah blah), basically due to the driver doing what I just mentioned, while it seemed that everyone else in the weight class was totally unprepared, or inexeprienced..
The scary part is, just when everyone in the crowd was calling us crazy for pulling with the brand new truck, some kid came out and hitched up with a brand new Caddy Escalade...lol... Funny to watch, and he fared pretty well...
Good luck!
