Ok well I was hoping the other thread was about fishing, and it isn't. So this one is.
Whats your biggest fish, that you kept, or released, or mounted. Weight to closest ounce, species too.
Mine is a Westslope Cutthroat Trout that I caught and ate, somewhere near 4 lbs, I have to guesstimate, because I was in the woods.
The biggest that I released was another westslope cutthroat, about 2 lbs, 17 inches.
Caught a King Salmon in the Willow River that weighed about 45 LBS. Had to let it go because I snagged it in the belly. Once they reach the rivers, you have to catch them forward of the gills.
I have also caught many Halibut. Most are small ones weigh 60-70 LBS. But man are the y good eatin'
White drum, Atchafalia(sp?) Bay. Rare catch as most the large drum are reds, also called Redfish. andthy can get up to 38 sometimes longer.
We caught two 36 White drum that day, same spot, within 30 mintues, kept one of them. Ate it that night. Will never eat one that size AGAIN! Have hooked some fish alot larger, mainly Alligator Gar and Sharks.
I like the little brook trout myself. They are usually only 10-12 in.around here.I did catch one this year that was 19 in.,weighed 2 1/2 pounds.I was pretty excited.Sounds kinda small compared to some of the other fish here, but i just fish a few small brooks and beaver ponds handy to my house. There are bigger fish around here but I'm just as happy catching the brookies.
Fordfaggiole,
I agree with, you brookies are great. They fight hard and are the best tasting little critters there is! I generally fish for panfish 'cause they are good eating and abundant around here. When I get to a location that has trout I love to fish for them. Biggest fish ever was a 45 inch Tiger Muskie. I caught it many years ago and have forgotten the weight (around 35 pounds). What a fighter but not much good to eat!

That sounds like a fish that would tow a small boat or pull your pole out of your hands!lol

The strongest / biggest fish I've ever "hooked" of a local Jew Fish out on Pelican Flats. I was bottom fishing with some friends and hooked into this locally known jew that hangs out on the reef and ended up pulling me over board and I lost my rod. $250 down the drain....
