the other day i noticed a good amount of oil under the car when i got under it there was oil sprayed everywhere. when i checked the dipstick it was normal but smelled off gas. does this sound like the head gasket is blown?
thanks for the help
I think if you had a blown head gasket, youd be seeing coolant coming out of the area, not oil. Youd probably also see white smoke coming out the tailpipe making it look like you were running on steam power.
A good amount of oil should make the level on the dipstick go down. Can you tell where the oil is coming from. Top or bottom of the engine? Ken is right-gas in the oil is bad. Find out soon where the oil is coming from and keep us posted!
it is coming from a seam above the oil pan on the engine in the front. there looks like a gasket or something is pretty much shredded there. it still driveable and i havent noticed any white exhaust. i dont know if this has anything to do with it, but to stop i have had to really stand on the brake pedal. i added brake fluid tonight and see if it stops better in the morning.
