Alignment problem

Ive got a '90 Ranger 4x4. The front wheels are slanted inward at the top, almost like the camber adjusment is way off. A lot of other Rangers and Explorers ive seen have the same problem. Is there any way to fix it?

Is it the stock height. you should measure the ride height and see if it is sitting low if it is it's probaly the springs either way it sounds like it needs alighned

picklz, I have the same issue with my '94. Camber is way off. Actually was gonna post on it myself. Inner sides of tires are wearing more than rest. I just got the my truck a few months ago and havent had a chance check out what kinda springs it uses (coils vs torsion). I do believe your year uses torsion and if so you might be in luck. All a shop has to do is crank down (or loosen up depending if + or - caster for a given wheel) the torsion adjusting nut. Should be a simple thing once on an alignment machine.

You can try doing it yourself, but without an alignment machine youd be hard pressed to get things accurate.

Ive taken it in and they said the camber ajustment was all the way set to making them straight and they are still tipped inward. Would putting a lift kit on it fix it? Or would it make it worse? I will check the springs first to see if they are shot though.

I just drove through town a few minutes ago and I noticed that an early 90's Explorer was the same way.Looked like it needed some adjustment bad....

Caster/camber adjustments are made via an eccentric bushing. There is a bushing available that has a different offset than the stock one; this will help to correct the condition you are describing during alignment. I assume that you have a sound front end with good ball joints/bushings, no bent components (it doesn't take much), and there is no frame damage, all of which would contribute to this condition. For very slightly bent componenets, I've seen the described bushing solve the problem. The keyword is slight.
