Questions...

K just some general questions... it may just be me but I've noticed a trend in aerostars (that doesn't mean I don't still like them) My parents owned a 91 3.0 EXT Auto. anything over 120 kph (around 75 mph) and she'd sway like a **** in the wind...
the 92' 3.0 auto shorty I drove in hamilton have the same problem though the steering was quite a bit more vague on that truck anyway. Now I own a '93 3.0 shorty with a 5 speed manual. she's ok to about 130 kph... (around th 80 mark for you americans) then she starts to exibit heavy floating almost like the chassis is lifting of her wheels. No shudder no scream no whine just the feeling that the body is about to lift off and leave the wheels behind on planet earth... this can be unerving in the passing lane or through a corner... I lose a lot of road feel. is the vehicle actually lifting off the ground? like am I losing a lot of traction? or is it just a trait? Other questions:
The 3.0 is rated for 135 hp in the 'star. I want that figure to go up into the 180-200 range... preferably without losing too much fuel economy. Therefore turbo and super charging are my lower priorities. Not that I find her all that under powered. I just find that there is every so often the need for just a little more oomph than she can give. Is there any kind of exhaust change or computer chip I can plug in to get better economy AND more power out of her. Hell I don't even need 180 hp (yes I know torque is important too) 150-160 is fine so long as the fuel economy doesn't fall off because of the boost. If not how hard is it to turbo charge a 'star? And what can I do about this lifting problem? I'm loathe to lower the vehicle, I like the extra height... it IS the sport model... maybe my suspension is bad? I dunno just sometimes it feels like she's about to fly away... I actually call it the sweet spot... where the road noise engine noise and shudder all disappear at the sacrifice of feeling like you're totally about to lose control. OH! Final major question. I'm installing a tach. Need to know the true redline on the '93 3.0 V6. I've heard everything from 4500 to 7000... 4500 is obviously to low for a gas engine but 7000 sounds to high for an engine this size and era made by americans... I'm not so worried about getting to the redline the tach is mainly so I can keep her in her powerband when towing heavylike but it would be nice to have her properly set.

oops

missed one smaller question about the headlights...
The headlight... uhm housings? I dunno what they are those things the light's sit in with the reflectors in them? well whatever those are... Most of the ones put out in the late 80's and early 90's were pretty lame at their jobs and gave off that booger yellow colour. I've seen a few people try putting in those new super white or super bright headlight replacements... to no avail... there headlight thingabobbers are just plain c**p. So uhm... is there a replacement type thing out there... something new and improved that cast more of the light out and doesn't give the impression (from their dimness) that your battery is dying as you drive?
