Recently I have had an engine noise develop. It seems to only do it when it's first started for the day when it is around 60 degrees or so or slightly warmer and very humid. The sound is a metal rattling sound that keeps in time with the RPMs (that is worrysome). Under the hood it sounds like it is in the area of the intake manifold.
Once it warms up it stops. Until that point it is loud and unnerving. Again, only when it's cold outside (or cooler). Not like the 100 degree heat here in Kansas City right now.
If its a 5.4 ,it might be piston slap, after a few minutes it goes away!
Ford has stated that if it goes away after 5minutes of warm up they will not do anything.
