4x4????
I cleaned the shift motor on my 92 explorer in nov, the 4x4 worked great after that, but sometimes i would have to push the button several times to get it to go into 4x4, i read in another post about a bumper or something that brakes, i was wonderiing were that was and how i would do that?? And today i went to put it into 4x4 i herd one click then 3 sec later another click right now am restarting the computer disconnected neg. battery cable for 15min thats what am waiting for now, looks like i will have to attempt cleaning it again i also want to try and replace the rubber bumper as well if someone can tell me how to do that and if any one knows any other possible causes, i was just usiing it thursday in the snow now today it wont work please help

Never heard that one. I run the motor in for about 30 minutes before installing. You have to remove the encoder gear so it doesn't run into the stop. I have found that many motors are still too stiff. Run the motor off 12V with a brake light in series. If it wo't rin then go back to step one. Motor should easily run at about 3/4 amp. Have seen some motors still drawing over 4A because bearings are still dry.

oh and after i cleaned it i put it all back together and it would not go back in some how the thing turned or something had to re due it about 3 times then finally i put one of the long screws in the motor tightend it to the t-case and put the second bolt in and now all is fine works great
