79 ranchero trans?

Hello FTE's, I have a question about a transmission. I just picked up a '79 Ranchero Squire Brougham from California. It has a 351M and auto trans. The haynes book says it is most likely a C4. The code in the door jam for the trans is "X", The book does not have this code listed. Is it a C4? I figured this is the best place to ask. The local dealer is of no help. Thanks Folks.
Cheers, Boss429

jimbare, Thats what I thought concidering the 351M is a 335 series block. I know the Haynes books are not real reliable thats why I asked. the book also shows drawings of the different pan configurations and the one under the truck matches, from what I could see, the style of the C4/C5. Can anyone else colorborate our opinions? The trans is shot and will have to be rebuilt. I need to know what rebuild kit to buy. Thanks again, Boss429
