Clark overdrive?

Hi,

I need some help identifing the transmission in my gallery.
I pulled it out of a totaled '76 250 4X4 with a 300 6. It is not stock for that truck, but for some buses, I was told. I need to know where I can get seals or other parts.
Thanks,
Jeff

It has two PTO covers, seems to be all cast iron, but it has 5 forward speeds. I had to take the top cover off to get the shifter off when I pulled the trans out. The gears on top were straight cut.
Thanks,
Jeff

Is there any identifying numbers of letters. For example, the borg-warner t18 has an identifying number on the case of 13 01. Once you find an identifying number of some sort, then maybe you can look it up on a search engine? Just a thought. Ted

Not an NP435. Looks beefy enough - I wonder what the gear ratios are?

p.s. - no aluminum cover, 1 pto plate on left side...

For sure it's not anything that's been discussed here. It's a box from a medium duty driveline not a light duty. It could be almost anything. There's got to be some sort of a casting/foundry ID on the gear case. See if you can find that info. For sure it is easily rebuildable, trannies in that size range always are.

I have all you need to know! Your post got my curiosity going, so I started yahoo! searching. Here is what I found. The model is 250v-18. It was made for ford gas engines and supplied to ford. Here is the link that has the info: http://www.roadranger.com/csee/Mungo...t0069-1001.pdf

The table is on page 3. I don't know if these guys can help you ( or were you just curious?) but it seems like a good place to start.
Good luck, and keep the old truck going! Ted

Glad to help. What is you current project? Also, is that thing overdrive, and does the bellhousing remove? I am curious about looking for one in my truck, now.

I am building a '73-79 4X4 3/4 high boy crew cab the hard way.
Yes the bellhousing does come off and it is an o/d.
I spun the input and marked the output, but I don't know by how much.
Thanks,
Jeff

THIS IS A LINK FOR THE TRANSMISSION I THINK YOU HAVE? I ALSO HAVE THE SAME TRANSMISSION COUPLED TO A 292- V8 FROM A 1961 F600 TRUCK, http://truckpartsinventory.com/porta.../28-6/20449678

sorry about caps... please i am not trying to hijack a thread but the same questions you are asking , i have the same ones... so may i cut in? for some additional inquires? can we confirm that this is a clark 250 (250v-18?) and is it for sure an overdrive? i have not detached the trans from the bell housig yet to find out for myself... i also have the same casting number that you have 224716 on the main housing all cast iron and 5 gears forward (shifter **** is layed out like this left side to right side(2-3-4-5-r-1) but my trans has the pto shaft installed on the right side and a large square cover on the opposite left side this engine and trans came out of a dump truck i plan to remove the pto and do need a cover plate or a picture of one so i can fabricate and also a source for seals and parts, thanks for this thread i hope i helped and i hope you can help also.
