Need help PLEASE on an A4LD.
I am pulling my hair out on this one guys. I have an 89 Ford Ranger with a 2.9 and a a4ld transmission. About two weeks ago it started shifting really funny, actually not shifting at all until it would hit 5000rpm's. After it shifted to 2nd from first it would be ok the rest of the day. It only does this after it has sat all day or overnight, even if I let it sit and warm up it still will not shift into 2nd until 5000 rpm's, sometimes it is a little late going into 3rd, but always goes into o.d. and lockup just fine. I dropped the pan, and the valve body but found nothing wrong at all, in fact everything was very clean and debris free, I was suspecting some time of trash hung up somewhere in the valve body, but nothing. I did replace the modulator hoping this was the remedy, but nothing. I made no adjustments on the new modulator so this is still up in the air. It does not slip in any gear and the shifts are firm. It does have over 200,000 on it but I have always stayed on top of the maintenance. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Oh ya, it is a 4x4 if that makes any differance. Thanks again.
