Not to scare you off, but it is a PITA. Just keep trying to visualize the end result. Seriously just take your time and follow the supplied directions and you will be fine. It may come out perfect and it may not but at least you can say I did it and didn't pay anybody to do it for me. And worst case senerio you mess it up, now the sell the precut outer shell in either paint to match or chrome. Post some pics so we can see the finished product. If you have any specific question just ask and I will try to help...BTW Some power tools help when it comes to cutting the bigger pieces.

Agreeded a PITA. I used a dremal tool, with a metal cut wheel ( just like a super small circular saw blade) to cut the plastic section out. I left it about 1/16" to 1/8" undersized, and then sanded to get the finished results. That way if I slipped, or miss-cut, I had some room to fix my error. I bought a new unpainted / non-chromed grill, as I wanted to go with a 'painted to match' grill shell, instead of using my chrome shell. You do not have to pull the front bumper off to get the grill off or on, (4 clips at the bottom), but I found it was worth the effort to remove it (1 bolt in each wheel well, along the the bolts next to your front tow hooks...simple job) since I had to 'tweak' the grill in, with the new insert. BTW if you want to use the same look inserts in your bumper, they sell a center one for the Super Duty, and two side inserts for the Excursion, to go in where your tow hooks are, (you must remove the hooks of course).
Good luck

If you haven't done the work yet, make sure you TRIPLE mask the areas of the stock grill you are NOT cutting. This will save you from saying when your dremmel slips and scrathches the chrome part. You think I know this from personal experience???:-X11
