Ranger rear stabilizer bar
I've got a 2004 Ford Ranger FX4 to which I wish to attach a rear stabilizer bar. The parts are going to cost $250-350 which I guess is OK but they want two hours of labor at $84.50/hour for the installation claiming that the gas tank will have to be moved to the right to allow bar clearance. In all these turkeys want $620 for the installation and that does not include the stabilizer bar itself which I already have.
A quick check on my truck shows the gas tank is in front of the axle and in my experience the stabilizer bar is mounted aft of the axle where it is comparatively uncluttered with the arms that attach to the frame reaching towards the rear.
Does anyone out there have any direct experience with this question? I believe I could install it with the exception of the welding of the brackets to the axle.
