Brakes

I have a 2000 F150 2wd. There is a popping/creaking noise coming from my right side brakes when I go forward and then back up and apply the brakes, like there is something shifting that should not be. I took off the caliper and found the pistons had a peice missing from the edges, not very big but noticeable. Would this cause the noise and or shifting I have been hearing? There is no noticeable braking problems ie pulling etc...

A piece mssing from a piston shouldnt cause what you're hearing.
Are the anti rattle "slippers" in place at both ends of the pads?
Ball joints and tie rod ends ok?
