I won $10,000 in a scratch off once... LOL

It was one of those prank ones though...hehe

But seriously, I got 3 scratch-offs for my 14th b-day a few years ago and won $250 on one, $5 on the 2nd and none on the 3rd...

I agree with jessfactor.
My grandfather has been buying lotto tickes since the game started. I personally have never won any money on the lotto. My mom has won $1500 in Vegas, and my cousin has won $300,000 on the powerball. Of course, after the gov. was done taxing the crap out of it, they only had like $100K left And I was wondering where their new Caddy came from ???

I see nothing wrong if a person wants to play the lottery. I do very rarely. BUt I also know that it is not an investment.

A couple of bucks on a Lottery ticket every week ....no big deal.

I think it is worse to spend money on Smoking material ....like cigarettes..... now that's a waste of money.

That depends on your perspective. A weak $ promotes export of US manufactured goods, more US manufacturing jobs and a positive shift in the balance of trade. It "ain't" all bad.

I feel so bad for those people who play the lottery every day/weekend, always hoping to "hit it big" and never do. My grandmother has been playing for YEARS and I keep trying to tell her how much money she would save, even if she just cut back from playing 6 days a week to 2. *sighs* My pleas fall on deaf ears. I buy a scrath-off every now and then...mostly if I'm bored on a road trip....and the most I've ever won was $40 on a crossword game.

A weak dollar also discourages foreign investment here, btw. I won $40 bucks on a scratch ticket yesterday,so i bought floor mats for my truck that cost me $2.
