I've noticed that when the engine is running, the remote locking no longer works.
Is this normal? Can I change it so that it does?
It would be very useful for warming the truck up on these winter mornings. I'd like to be able to start the truck, leave the key in, but take the remote with me so that I can lock the truck and go back inside while it warms up.
So far, I've found that the locks only work with a key while the engine is running.
I'm too cheap to shell out for a remote starter too.....
I was reading in the post about the new keyless entry pad and somebody said the older f-150's remote is disabled when the engine is running. I got the impression is was not something you could alter.
MY '03 is stubborn to unlock when the engine is running, but after several attempts it does work. I don't know why this is, but as soon as you shut the engine off it works perfect every time. Go figure?
I've got a 2002 S'crew and I am able to use the remote to lock the doors while I have the engine running. I use this for the exact same reason - to keep the truck running and still be able to take the remote with me and lock up the truck!
