I have a V10 SD 250 2X4 with 10K miles. When I hit a bump the front tires bounce like basketballs and seam to keep bouncing. I am looking for a shock with more rebound control or something because this is driving me nuts. Any sugestions?
I put KYB Monomax shock on the front and have luved them. about $50 each and about 15minutes to install. (Given that everything goes smoothly)
BTW: becareful when tightening the lower shock bolt. I broke one of mine and ended up having to replace the radius arm... Darn torq specs. Never broke a bolt before I started following the torq specs.
Bilstein is the only company that offers a shock (5100) which was custom valved specifically for SDs. They make a big difference in ride quality.

To replace the shocks is the easiest thing, ever, warmdye. I did the fronts without even taking the tire off. Although, with your bigger tires, you might want to remove them. Other than that, it's as easy as unbolting the old ones and bolt in the new ones.
I went with Bilsteins. I just didn't want to worry about adjusting the shocks like with the Ranchos. These should last a long time. The old shocks were still good at 22000 mi so the difference wasn't astounding. But the Bilsteins soak up the bumps better and firm up the ride without being harsh. They do thier job.
Go with Bilsteins. You'll never have to think about it again. I've tried other suppossed premium shocks, I had to test there warranties on all of them. Seems they only last about two years. Bilsteins on the other hand I've never replaced.
