Yes, mine would start on the first crank with the remote, now I got to hit the button twice and it starts on the 3rd crank.
Im glad im in the house and can't hear the noises coming from under the hood. All I know is when I get in 15 minutes later, I got oil pressure
It's been down to as much as -12 degrees here in Mass a few times lately (Jan '04). Last night at -12 exactly my '04 Super Duty w/5.4 fired up without any kind of hesitation and it was stone cold and hadn't been started since the night before. I couldn't ask for a better truck. Shifting on hills sometimes irratates me, but that has been my only complaint.
I'm using Mobil 1 0w-20. Are any of you with problems using something different?
No, I don't think they all have block heaters. My '04 F250 5.4 doesn't unless they did a real good job of hiding it. I wouldn't want it on mine anyway. Like I said above, it starts as if it were 50 degrees outside. No complaints.

I understand that. Theses are great trucks.
Set a can of whatever oil that you are using outside at those temperatures and leave it there overnight. In the morning, open it and pour some of it into a catch pan. It is very thick and as you can imagine, is not going to do a very good job of lubricating your engine until it warms up some.
Synthetic does do better at this test.
I use what Ford recomended and it seems to be treating me pretty well so far. 0w-20 Mobil 1. I hear you on the test. Some oils are like mud under 10 or so. Scares me to think it's inside the crank case. I use 5-20 in the rest of my rigs. I never use synthetic in anything that didn't start life or at an early age with synthetic though. I've only seen bad effects from it. My Harley barely turns over in these temps. I never even try to start it in the winter anymore.
