Foam in Radiator ???

Hi gang, my Pop's 90 F150 302 is "foaming" up in the radiator and is not making any heat. Typical, the coldest day in decades in the North East ! Where should I look for the problem ?

Thanks, Chet

Truck ran hot initially and heater hoses were warm, filled radiator with more fluid and heat came back. Must have been too low.

Thanks for the reply

only time ive seen foam in a radiator is if you didnt get all the flush stuff outadding fluid for heat is cool but you may nneed to bring it in for a radiator service leaving the cleaner in there isnt good for it

Foam is generally indicative of air or something else mixing with the coolant. Does the coolant smell like anything else? You could possibly have a bad head gasket and exhaust is mixing with the coolant. A trick for confirming this is to have an exhaust analyzer probe stuck into the filler neck and see if there is any reading. It still can be as simple as flushing the system and putting a new thermostat in. Try simple first.

If the truck has overheated, mavstallion may have something.
If head gasket is bad you may have oil in the coolant. check
oil dip stick for moisture as well. (milky color oil is bad)
