Power Steering noise
This morning there was a chirpy squeek noise coming from the power steering pump. I squirted some penetrating lube onto the shaft behind the pulley and it quieted down. This happened about six months ago and I did the same thing. I am thinking I probably am OK until the penetrating lube no longer does the trick or the noise gets worse. What I am trying to avoid is having the bearing seize as we all know that the later model trucks (mine '95) have a single belt, so if one thing blows the belt you are up the creek without a paddle. Should have two belts: one for essential (alt and water pump) and the other for the rest.

TallPaul: Wow MR Paul you are going to need to replace the pump & as cold as it gets in the motor city i would do it soon. If I
may recomend that you use a 100% synthetic atf fluid in the new pump it will amaze you as to how quiet it will run after that.

Thanks turbo TED: I am inclined to ride this one out for now as it dosen't seem that bad yet. I carry some lube and if it starts screaming, I'll have to pull over and hose it. Current pump takes Type-F ATF and I don't think it comes in synthetic, but a new pump probably would take the Mercon which comes in synthetic.
