turbo noise

Are the IDI turbos suppose to whistle like the new ps? I really dont here any turbo sound. Is this normal?

Put on an aftermarket open air cleaner and big exhaust with no muffler and you will probably hear it.

so stock i should not be able to hear it. Is that what i am hearing?

You can hear it....it just does not scream like the Power Stroke one does. They build a little more pressure. I seem to hear mine most at lower RPM's like about 12 or 13 hundred. Part of that is due to the waste gate opening at higher RPM's.

Mine seems to pick up around 18-2000 rpm's, ain't too loud, even with 3" exhaust. Plus my hearing ain't to good either, too many sirens and whistles riding the big red trucks!
