steering column swap?

I have a 89 F250 4X4, with CC but no tilt wheel, I found a 87 F? steering column with CC and tilt just like I want but it is out of a 2WD truck will this fit? and does it have to come out of a F250 to fit in my truck or are the F-series the same.. Thanks

87-91 are the same. Obviously if you have a floor-shifted manual transmission you won't want a column with an automatic shifter hanging on it and vice-versa. 2WD and 4wd make no difference in these years. Some trucks were 3 speed automatics and some were AOD's. The shifters are slightly different so your gear indicator may not line up exactly. Not a big deal, I just get "D" and "R" where they line up pretty well. Park is obvious and how often do you actually use the rest of the positions? A minor annoyance.
A third column is for the 90-1 F150 and 89-91 F150 equipped with an "E4OD" trans. It's just like the AOD, but has a button for OD at the end of the shifter. Some had the actual button on the dash and a fake at the end of the shifter. Either way the button can be ignored if used in a C6 or AOD truck. If you have an E4OD truck with the button on the shifter, you would certainly want to use a column with that feature, whether tilt or not.
