Which muffler would you suggest. I've heard that both sound great and I do like the sound of the Ravin exhaust from Midas on my buddy's Mustang. I have a 03 F-150 5.4L. Also do you suggest single into dual tailpipes or just keep the single. I want my truck to sound wicked, but I definitely do'nt want it to sound like a rice burner which I'm sure it won't because I have a V8.
i would go with a flowmaster 40 series because its the best sounding muffler out there, and it really doesnt matter if its single or dual they sound the same. the dual outlet is just for looks it makes no difference.
I was dead set on putting Flowmaster 40 series on my Mustang, untill I heard the Ravins on a 5.0 Mustang. I could have sworn they were Flowmasters. The sound was nearly identical. What sold me though is the fact that the Ravin exhaust outflows the Flowmaster as far as cfm and has a longer better warranty. I think a lot of people are buying into a name when purchasing Flowmaster. As far as sounding like a ricer, it's not going to happen with a V-8 running chambered mufflers. On trucks I personally prefer a single outlet (unless you are running true duals.... )
I had Midas cut out my stock muffler and put in a Ravin Z-55. I used the stock piping. Si/So. Sounds great. Good low Growl. Just a little louder than stock at Idle. When you step on the gas you can definitely hear it. When you start off at a normal driving speed its kind of loud in the cab at around 40mph. (I like this though, it sounds good to me. But some may not like it) But, after the Truck changes gears the sound is mellow in cab. At highway speeds It sounds good. You can hear it but it's not loud or a droning noise just a good low Growl. As far as hp Gains I really don't see any difference but I can tell a difference in throttle response and acceleration at highway speeds. Cost was $174.00 I guess it was a little high because Midas had to wield in some extra pipe because the stock muffler was longer than the Ravin.
