MAP sensor
MAP = Manifold Absolute Pressure
BMAP = Barometric Manifold Absolute Pressure
A MAP sensor tells the computer what the manifold vacuum is for making fuel/air ratio and spark advance calculations.
The BMAP sensor gives the computer the atmospheric pressure along with manifold vacuum. It allows the computer to calculate the pressure differential for making fuel/air ratio and spark advance calculations. It will compensate for altitude variation and when used with an Air Temperature Sensor, allows the computer to make air density calculations.
