hey all, i have been having problems with my winshield wipers. i turn them on and they will go for a couple swipes, then stop and maybe work every minute or so, or i can turn the switch off wait about 30 seconds and then turn it on again and they will start back up for a couple more swipes, then i reapeat the procedure. anyway i just installed a new wiper motor, i figured it had got wore out and just didn't have the poop to it any more. after installing it the same thing is happening, im pretty sure the switch is good, so im stumped! any help?
As above, check the ground. After replacing a bad motor in mine, the replacement was only working intermittantly. Although the ground wire was tight somehow it wasn't making good contact. after cleaning and retightening the ground connection it has worked fine.
I was having the same problem. I replaced the switch, and cleaned up the grounds and it appears to be working OK now for me. I would try this approach first.
It could also be the wiper delay box or the motor itself.
Just FYI: If you determine the wiper delay box is the cause of the problem, Ford does not make that part anymore and I could not find any parts store that carried it...it's a Junkyard item only.
Motor assemblies are availbile from NAPA or Ford.
I'd be willing to bet it's the switch or the ground as locknkey and jdon88 say.
