Originally posted by mbnv992 No, it was just a bad batch of fuel. Water got into BOTH fuel filters, so they (Ford) had to replace those, and I had to pay for the new fuel filters, as well as the labor. I think that is crazy. I had the old 7.3L in my 2002 truck, and went to that SAME gas station for the past 2 years, and my water in fuel lamp never came on in my old truck.
Come on. Don't scare the guy off.
If there was indeed water in the fuel, as you admit, then that falls outside warranty. What about the guy that posted that the fuel nozzle was the wrong color at the gas station and he filled up with gas. It is unreasonable to expect the warranty to cover that or water in the fuel you buy. I have had several things go wrong. Warranty covered it all. No $ out of my pocket.
salohcin8469, there is a lot of good info on this site. There is also some not so good info. Make sure to separate the two.
scan the dealership if they fix (CAN FIX) the 6.0l... some of them will send your truck to other dealership to be fix. it happened to me, everytime i take my truck to the dealer, i found out that they send it out to be fix.
I'm not trying so scare anyone off. I'm just simply stating the facts, and things I've personally been through with this engine. And please do NOT say that I give out "not so good info". I've been on this site for quite some time, so I obviously must have some kind of clue of to what I'm talking about.
Lets just all enjoy this site, and take into consideration ALL comments that us 6.0L owners have, whether good, or bad.
Mbnv992: sounds like you would've had the same problem regardless of which diesel engine you had i.e. Chevy, Ford or Dodge. I guess a general warning about what salohcin8469 needs to watch out for in terms of owning a diesel is good advice. Fortunately, I haven't had to spend any extra money on any diesel problems.

I know I am when my wife will let me drive ours...
04 with 04 engine, 1800 + miles and not the first problem to this date... The only thing I can find to complain about so far is it had a spot when purchased on the carpet by the passenger door that will not clean up and that's really my wife's complaint...
Her quote about our F250 is "I LOVE THIS TRUCK AND IT WILL HAUL ***"
I'm sure you will love the truck when you get it...
How can you tell if the 04 truck has an 04 engine?
And for that reason, it is important that you confirm the mileage reading at point of drop off. As to another point, one will have to ask, is the truck going to be worked on here or is it going to be contracted out to another. You know.... this is really bad when you have to even ask these type of questions. And if you have to ask these types of questions, then have them put it into the work order contract. The word is "transparency", openess in dealing with customers/no secrecies (sp?). Remember Enron...........

I call it taking in all of information offered, no matter how biased it may be (and that is life) , analyse it and make a decision from that collection. The more input, the better the pool from which to analysis.
I'm also considering the purchase of an 04 F-250 CC 4x4 6.0l. I appreciate all of the info on this site and the involvement of all of the ford owners.
In relation to 8ballzs comment regarding 04 truck and 04 powerplant, how can you tell? The F-250 I drove last night was just delivered to the dealership and was shipped late dec 03. Can I get the OASIS printout for the vehicle to see what FMC has done to the computer before I buy it? I'm curious if the flashes have already been done.
I thought the 6.0 was pretty quiet compared to some of the other diesels and it definitely has a bunch of power. This is the kind of truck that would put a smile on your face each day (or potentially a grimace according to what I have been reading).
Its not just the chance of out of pocket expense, but when you need your truck for work and you dont have it because it leaks oil at rear main, wont start or it gets poor mpg . Thats what hurts the old billfold and , what really stinks is fords way of treating the problems that we are having, like my dealer said you are the only customer I have thats not happy. yet every time I go in to the shop they have 3 or 4 2003& 2004 trucks there with problems just like me. people would feel better if ford would just be honnest and say we are having some problems and are working to get them corrected.
