Hello,
My 78 f-250 4x4 with a 351m and stock auto tranny is making a clicking sound when in reverse. It sounds like a playing card in bicycle spokes, and only does it when cold. It is shifting fine and goes into gear as well.
Second thing, do you guys flush your tranny thought the lines that connect to the radiator or do you remove the pan? Thanks.
check your speedo cable could be the click of the cable binding a dry u-joint can cause the clicking noise also it's a long shot but a bent park pal in the tranny could cause a click to remember to check a u-joint the tranny has to be in neutral!
The sound happens right when you shift into reverse, no movement or acceleration yet, just idle in reverse and the clicking, high pitched, occurs. I will check the speedo cable and u joint as well.
