I looked at the windows sticker for my truck last night and guess what, i don't have a limited slip rear end, but yet, i feel the shudder at times. Now I really wonder what's going on with mine.
I am not sure what models are affected, but I am going to wait to see if more people have this problem and then call the dealership b/c I don't wont to run back and forth. Also, I have a 7 year warranty so I'm not worried.

Thanks!
I work at a Ford dealership, I had the service dept. run the vin # on oasis to check for any recalls or TSB's.
My My backend has the same shudder, in fact the truck (FX4 SCrew) is at the dealer now. They had it all day on Friday and said they could not duplicate the problem but they know there is a clutch pack and fluid fix for it. Why they just don't do the work is beyond me. I seriously question their competence I also had the following problem and it took the tech 6 hours to duplicate it although it has never worked from day one (I had to provide the words for the write as the service writer could not get it correct...tell me what I did wrong here:
"The exterior or interior lights will not turn on when the left rear passenger door is opened"
Nevertheless, I will pick up my truck today and hopefully demo the shudder problem. A switch is on order for the door. This is my first Ford, I hope things improve.
I will take my F150 back to dealer tomorrow (Monday) to have rear end checked out. Had a tech, drive it and he felt shudder too. I will post the results of my visit to dealer when I get my truck back. I hope they take care of the problem by replacing clutch pack and fluid and not just change fluid only.
This keeps coming up on Ford truck sites. There is most likely a problem with the rear axle on the new F-150's. Ford has apparently addressed the most obvious ones with at least one or two TSB's, the rest are still waiting to be resolved. If I had one of these new trucks, I would be very sure the dealer recorded this reported problem within that very short 3/36 warranty period. Get a copy of the service report and hang onto it. Rear axle problems are generally never cheap to fix. Ford has been pretty darn reluctant of late to extend their warranty even on known issues.
Well dealer says they have to order parts for my truck and should be here in about a week,so maybe things will work out good. I thought I would have a hard time getting them to say there was something wrong but since there have been so many problems with these (LS Diff.) that they don't put up any fuss. I just hope it takes care of the shudder.
My truck Has the same Slipping feeling ..when its cold ...its in the shop right now for another problem..but the dealer is aware of this problem as well ...they have not told me anything about the slipping problem though 2004 FX4
Don't know if this means anything but I am still waiting for my new 04 standard cab and the dealer said there are 200 of these trucks on hold at the plant and they should be released soon.
Go figure are they are fixing my first new truck second ford ever? First was in the 72? bought in late 70's/ not a good thing.
Does anyone know if the new clutch pack and anti-foam fix has been incorporated into the Ford assembly line? My FX4 was scheduled to be built this week.
I take mine in Tuesday for new clutch pack.
I hope this takes care of the problem as mine is getting worse everyday. It has started shuddering when i turn both ways when at first it was only when turing left. It also stills does it even after having been driven long enough to get warm.
