engine swap
I have an 85 F150,302.... came with FI now has a 4bbl carb. It's a 4 sp. manual w/a granny gear. I was gonna sell the truck but have decided to keep it and rebuild it.This will be my first full on rebuild. Is there a 351 that will bolt to my tranny or should I do the 302. I'd like to upsize the motor if I'm gonna rebuild but don't want to have to swap out the tranny.

351w will bolt in using same mounts, bellhousing, radiator, etc. The exhaust may require modifications. Power steering pump and A/C compressor brackets are the same except for one piece. 302 flywheel will bolt on 351w but it is balanced differently. You will need a 28oz flywheel from a 351w or 81-earlier 302. 82-later 302 have 50oz imbalance.
