Question 8 Track??

Greetings!! I am the happy new owner of a 68 Ranger 250 CS.
\It has a 8 Track AM/FM radio. It sure looks original. Was this an option or special order item? It also has a "real" 390 with a Holley aluminum intake and Holley 4bl. It was overhauled about 5k with new dual exhaust but Headers were not installed. All the headers that I have found say "except CS". What gives, are there any Headers out there that don't require a major mod. I have limited tools and skills. Thanks.

Hi, welcome to the site!

Don't worry about the "except CS", they are referring to an interference problem with sway bars which I highly doubt your CS has.

Put a pic of your radio in your gallery, sounds interesting!

Lightbulb 8 Track? Update

Just wanted to let you know that upon closer examination, the AM/FM 8 Track in my truck is an Audiovox. It sure is a good fit!!
I don't have digital camera yet or I would have posted a picture. I know that I will needing one when I ask more questions. Thanks.

Welcome.

I just went though the header dilema with my F250 CS. The litature indicates the header won't fit on the 250 CS.

Like BB said, "Don't worry about the "except CS", they are referring to an interference problem with sway bars which I highly doubt your CS has".

If you don't know what a sway bar is, it's a big "U" shaped steel bar the goes from the steering knuckle on one side, to the frame rails then to the other steering knuckle. On the CS's that have them, the sway bar apparently cross the frame near where the headder would come out.

I just put Hedman 89100's on my truck, it's 72 Ranger XLT Camper Special. They were ~$140.00 from summit.

On the left, the power steering hoses to the cooler got in the way somewhat. I ended up removing the oil filter and the washer resouvor on that side as well.

On the right, you have to jack up the engine (remove one engine mount nut), remove the starter, juggle the starter and the header up in there simultanously (not bolted in yet), lower the engine, then bolt things up.

I haven't gotten to drive my yet, as I'm going to weld up the reducer to the exhaust tomorrow morining. I've fired it up a couple of time though, I sounds way cool.

This site is the best: lots of good information, entertainment, and discussion.

Sam

Try a Flow tech header for it. There cheap but do requier removing the rightside engine pillar. I can still get my starter out with them on though.

Thanks for the input, from what I have been reading I think I will go with "Stans Headers". They aren't too far away, I live in central Oregon.
\So much to do , so little money. My wish list just keeps growing.
