I am seriously looking to buy an 04-FX4 and know what I want. My question is, if I don't like or get alone with the salesman/woman is there a problem asking for someone else? The other Ford Dealer is 30 miles away.
Problem? Absolutely not! It's YOUR hard-earned money, you have the right to spend it with whomever you want. It amazes me when people give me this sob story about how TERRIBLE their salesperson was: rude, ignorant, wasted their time, etc... I just look at them and say, "why didn't you just ask for someone else?" I then get that deer-caught-in-the-headlights look. "You mean I can do that?," they'll ask in amazement. OF COURSE! I've often advised people that, when they find themselves stuck with a salesperson that isn't working out, ask to speak to a manager. CALMLY explain to him/ her the problem, and then tell them what type of salesperson you'd LIKE to work with, or you'll have to take your business elsewhere. One of two things is gonna happen: 1) the manager will apologize and IMMEDIATELY find you the perfect salesperson, and everyone's happy, or 2) the manager will call you a #$%^&! jerk and tell you to get out of his dealership. This is also a good thing, because you just found one place you DEFINITELY don't want to buy a car from!
I agree with mark, alot of car sales personel are idiots i couldnt stand to do business. make them work for your business 30 miles is nothing to drive to get a deal or even a nice sales person
guess im lucky with in 30 miles of me there is about 8-10 Ford dealers so they better do it right
I'm becoming discouraged with this dealership. I've been there twice, first to look at the truck and second to tell them what I want and I have yet to sit in the truck much less drive it. Maybe it's my fault I didn't know I was suppose to ask. The saleman said he would call me today with the quote, this should be a hoot.
It looks like I will be taking a field trip this Saturday.
If ANY salesperson did not make an effort to even ASK (much less WORK THEIR **** OFF to persuade you) if you would like to drive the truck, I can surely see why you hold them in question. THAT is the dealer I'd USE to waste the time of. Ya know, random questions, needing to see it 40 times, requesting test drives from, whatever suits your fancy.
It's the dealer who knows what they are doing, and desires to professionally EARN your business that I'd know my stuff when approaching, and make it a mutually-simple process with.
So I'd not burn the bridge with them completely, since they would serve a purpose, but I'd surely be in control every time I walked on their lot, or corresponded with them. Make sense?
In other words.....PRACTICE with them by seeing how much you can find out. And when you are solid in what you need, and for what price you wanna pay.....go to a PROFESSIONAL business with your expectations, and surprise yourself with the outcome.
It'll make them happy too. You offer, they counter, you counter, they agree, you test drive THE truck of your choosing, you both smile, and you complete the paperwork. It really can be that simple AND painless.
