j'ever make a rear window flange?
Can I get feedback as to how you repaired yours? I wondering if repair is even needed....not too much of the lip is gone...the surrounding lip is there to hold the gasket in place on either side of the eaten away area (the area is about 10 " long).
I hoping I could use some rust dissolver, treat it and paint it and then reinstall the gasket. The area is on the top lip - I don't want air leaks.
Ideas?...
Sure, new metal could welded in but whether to do it or not sounds like a judgement call. The two questions that come to mind are:
Why did it rust in the first place?
Would there be a sealing problem if you didn't fix the rust?
If you had a picture, it might help.
You truly IZ-DAH-MAN!! I'll give a link to some pix this weekend; it's too dark for pictures when I get home at 7PM. I think the old gasket let water seep into the area for a few years and it just sort of "nibbled" away at the flange.....
I'll post pix - they ARE worth a thousand words...
